The Rose That Grew From Concrete

Ah, swimsuits. They're a good layering piece, hug in the right places and fun to wear as a top (probably since you're not supposed to).

Fell in love with this mesh wonder from Miss Pap. Blame it on the brilliant red roses--double points for the lovely embroidery work. I like patches when they're cute and girly, and not-so-NASCAR.

Loving that trousers are currently on-trend. I wish I had a pair of trousers for every day and night. They work best with little tops, half tucked shirts/sweaters for a relaxed and effortless cool. Throw on a pair when you're feeling like a BAWS. Racer stripe trousers are also rotating heavy on Instagram and I love the play on street meets chic--one of my favorite looks! One is cooler with the other. Call it symbiotic.

How to De-stress

It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of work and personal obligations. Stress and rumination can eat us up and we lose ourselves for a bit. For my well being, it’s absolutely necessary to hit pause. Let yourself indulge in things that make you happy, let yourself be inspired. Our professional and social obligations can sometimes chip away at our core identity. It's important to feel and act on your individuality. Doing things for the very reason of "just because" and doing it unapologetically. Take it in and let it out. For me, cooking is "taking it in.” It’s therapeutic in the sense that I feel accomplished to whip up an awesome meal, and the love and attention that goes into each meal requires me to be present when I’m cooking. This is one way I absorb positive energy and I let it out unwanted energy through a high-intensity workout. Indulge in your reveries. Take time to be yourself. Then get back to work and hit the ground running.

Witching Hour

Brb. Currently making voodoo dolls and mixing love potions in this witching look I styled for Forever 21. Can you say "Coachella?" I love the leeway of a monochromatic look, like the ability to pile on different textures and accessories--while looking muted overall. Here, I'm complementing a dainty lace robe with raw denim cut-offs, an embellished rocker belt and moto-slash-Victorian style boots by Vera Wang. You know, blending a few different looks to result in a fun and flirty ensemble. This robe would definitely look sexy with some skivvies, except for me--I live with 3 dudes, so there goes that idea.

Bond Girl

So maybe I'm wearing a bodysuit as a swimsuit, but hey, who makes the rules here? My roommate says I look like a bond girl, while the other roommate says I look like a dolphin trainer--perspective is everything, isn't it? I almost wore this bodysuit with high waisted blue jeans for a 90's-inspired look, but your girl loves a high leg cut, also reminiscent of the 90's. There was some doubt in me to do a beach shoot and wet my hair, for the fear of DTM, but I'm so glad I went against that tiny voice in my head. Something you're afraid of is a clear indication of what you should do next. So I took a chance and I couldn't be happier with the outcome! Be bold, take risks, life is more exciting that way.
