Diamond Girl

Who knew sweats could be provocative? ;) Somehow, jogger pants broke free from the "sweatpants" category and became socially acceptable as everyday wear. This goes for guys and gals alike. Now, I'm not saying you should wear them to work. I'm saying joggers don't carry the stigma of looking "like a bum" while wearing sweats. Can we all take a moment to thank the great minds behind this streetwear trend? (Silent moment goes here).

Pro tip: When styling joggers, think of them as jeans and not sweats, with the sporty look in mind. Pair them with sneakers, a T-shirt or maybe a baseball cap. I have a few pairs of these joggers by Diamond Supply and I love how they fit. Great for a chill outfit while running errands or through the airport.

The joggers are courtesy of Diamond Supply, and it's still surreal that I've crossed paths with such a dope brand. Feeling blessed, to say the least. The sweater was a Christmas present from a friend, also from one of my favorite streetwear labels out of LA. (If you haven't seen Straight Outta Compton, you're missing out)!

I'm getting ready to leave the country this week. I'll be gone for 10 days, so get ready for a ton of photos! If you're reading this, know that you are awesome and I thank you. Big things are coming up, and I can't wait to share them with everyone!

Wild West

Howdy, partner. I wore this outfit to brunch with my grandparents and my grandma was quite pleased with my western, mountain woman look. She asked me to dress like this everyday lol, so this one is for you, grams.

The dress is a lovely lace which stands beautifully on it's own, but I added the hat for some edge. I still felt pretty girly so I added the bandana and boots. I tried something different and layered necklaces over my bandana and I think it's quite cutesy. Would you wear this look? Let me know in the comments section below!

On a Tuesday

Skirt: Finders Keepers (from Boutique Dandelion), Boots: Superdry // Photos by: Dijon

Hi, my loves! A few of you guys requested that I post some casual looks. For most people, "casual" consists of jeans and a t-shirt--you know, the basics. All I have to say is that it's possible to be casual and still be stylish!

I started this look with my Chicago Bulls Jersey which I thrifted (yay for cheap finds!) My immediate reaction was to throw on a pair of jeans, but I'm trying to stray from the typical "casual" look. Instead, I put on this Finders Keepers skirt I got from Boutique Dandelion. What I love about this look is how a boyish jersey is balanced by a girly skirt. For those who don't know me, don't be fooled by my ombre hair and manicured nails. I'm a total tomboy on the inside. I love to mix masculine and feminine elements because I like to look girly, but cool enough to be one of the boys!

It wouldn't be right to wear sandals or flats with a jersey, but sneakers or combats definitely fit the bill. Combat boots add a rugged aspect to your look. They go well with the jersey alone while adding some edge to a feminine skirt. This is my advice on how to dress down without compromising style!

Would you rock this look? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

I hope everyone is having a lovely day and as always, thanks for swinging by!

Advanced Warfare

Jacket: Scarlett Fever, Scarf: Free People, Boots: Superdry, Stockings: Urban Outfitters Purse: Rebecca Minkoff // Photos taken by: Dijon Bowden

This Indian summer is coming to a close in northern California. I can't believe we're finally experiencing darker, cooler nights. A stylish way to stay warm this season is the high thigh trend--we're talking OTK (over-the-knee) stockings and OTK boots. Stuart Weitzman makes the most amazing OTK boots, but until I can justify buying a pair, I'll make do with my black stockings and clunky combat boots from Superdry.

I threw on some denim shorts and a basic white tunic to downplay the sultry OTK look. I picked a mid-length jacket to complement the length of my tunic. This camo jacket is still one of my favorite pieces in the closet. I love it's length, shape and the edgy studded shoulders custom designed by Scarlett Fever, a sweetheart whose online boutique I found via Instagram. She has amazing taste if you want to take a look at her store here. I finished the look with this awesome fringed infinity scarf from Free People. I love how well red and green go together, but remember to consider mixing prints so that you don't look like a bright Christmas tree! My Rebecca Minkoff purse has been collecting dust in my closet for years now. Carrying her around again feels warm and familiar like rekindling an old flame. It's funny how great pieces evoke emotions similar to romantic love--that can't be just me, right?

Writer and photographer Dijon Bowden met for the first time when we walked and talked as we scouted locations to shoot. We strolled along the streets of San Francisco and I love how he captured me in these photos as we discussed a colorful range of topics including photography, the human body and what inspires our creativity. All of these photos are unedited, and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out! Happiness can be your best accessory. #nofilter

I hope this post inspires you to try something new, or spark a conversation with a stranger--you never know what's out there until you explore. Thanks for reading, friends! Have a wonderful week!
