Thrift Shopping at it's Finest

Sometimes, we have to let go of routines in order to open ourselves up to new experiences. In this case, I'm talking about thrift shopping! See past the clutter and time spent digging, and you'll find unique pieces or even basic staples at a fraction of the cost! Thrift shopping is like most things in life; you have to start with the right mentality--patient and open-minded! Otherwise, you won't find anything.

Now, can we talk about this incredible denim jacket?! I found it in a pile of denim jackets at an antique flea market in Oakland, CA. So here I am, wearing denim on denim--like it's nobody's business!

Lately, I've been into looks that evoke emotions of days gone by. In this case, it's the denim daze of the 80's and 90's. I swooped on this awesome jacket at an antique flea market in Oakland, CA. The back of the jacket is embellished with Cirque Du Soleil branding and a geometric sun.  And to think I only paid $10.00 for this lovely gem!

I used to be a name brand junkie, but that's such a complex which I am so glad has left me. The denim shorts I'm wearing are real denim, and we all know what it's like to get our hands on a pair of form-fitting, actual denim. Such a rarity!

The baseball tee was from Coachella 2012, the year with an eclectic, star-studded line-up. The year of the the Tupac hologram. And a great year for t-shirts, being that my shirts from other years don't look nearly as cool.

Not every piece you find has to have a story, but it's just a little more special when it does.

By the way, I want to add that I felt so tired and sleep-deprived before this shoot, not to mention I overate the night before, plus some dramatic back and forth scheduling conflicts. I pushed through the nonsense and brought myself to shoot anyway, and it ended up being my favorite shoot to date. Push yourself, only great things will come from it.

Kimono Craze

Let's talk about the kimono! The sheer fabric speaks femininity as it delicately slides off your shoulder--let's be real, shoulders don't get enough of the spotlight! And its relaxed fit is as comfy as lounging in your pajamas.

One of my favorite looks right now is a kimono paired with something tight underneath. Kimonos should be worn with tight clothing, otherwise it would look like you're drowning in layers. It's a stylish alternative to the light sweater I carry around on a spring or summer night or through the summer-to-autumn transition. For a flattering fit, pick one that is long enough to cover your bum. The length adds to its flowy nature while a shorter kimonos tend to look boxy.

I'm on my second cup of coffee, trying not to be sad that summer came to an end. Anyway, I hope everyone is having a splendid week so far! Thanks for stopping by, my loves!

Pool Party

Jersey: Flea Market, Shorts: Foreign Exchange, Necklace: Xevana, Shoes: Steve Madden  |  Photos by Lux

Hi, everyone! I don't know about you guys, but it's really tough for me to find a nice pair of denim cutoffs. I like these for their flattering cut and how it accentuates your legs. My friend had a long gold chain lying around so we got a little crafty and draped the chain onto these shorts of mine. Kind of neat, right?

I found this Michael Jordan jersey from a local flea market for a steal. My gut instinct told me to crop it, but I think I'll hold off for a while. How cool does it look with my Xevana necklace, though?

Lux and I thought this empty pool would be perfect for this street chic look. He blasted some music and I drowned out to the sound waves. I hope everyone is having a productive week so far. Thanks a bunch for reading, guys!

Sporty Chic

Top: Nike, Shoes: Steve Madden, Necklace: Xevana  |  Captured by Lux

I didn't ask for a bajillion awesome Mickey heads. I didn't ask for them to match my shirt, either. Sometimes life is just good to me! It's bright and sunny in San Francisco and a perfect day to rock this classic Nike tank and cruise around the bay. The only thing better than this retro tank is when it's paired with my Xevana necklace. Isn't she gorgeous? To complement the necklace, I threw on my super sick holographic heels. I love wearing simple sandal heels with denim shorts for that effortless I-woke-up-like-this vibe.

I have a couple photo shoots today plus some last minute shopping before heading out to Miami for my birthday! Should be fun. Hopefully, I can link up with new photographers and meet some cool peoples. Miami, I'm coming for ya! I hope you all are having a fantastic week, and thanks so much for reading!
