Off The Grid

Welcome to Sweater Weather 101. One thing about me is that I like my clothes really tight, or oversized to the brink of ridiculousness. If we must be covered in layers, let them drape along your silhouette, instead of rounding out like a puffin. (I'm looking at you, North Face friends). This off-the-shoulder knit sweater dress is a unique little gem. It's not often you find all the aforementioned facets in one sweater slash dress. A knit sweater should hug and drape in the right places, and this one surely fits the bill, and the love was instantaneous.

I'm carrying summer's off-the-shoulder trend into the fall. The cozy knit adds to the already playful, classy and sultry trend. I see a pattern with Miss Pap's pieces and I am a big fan.

It was a rainy Sunday morning on the day of this shoot, raining like cats and dogs. I was forced to cancel my shoot, and my photographer friend and I carried on with our lives. I was bogged down from the flu, but deadlines don't stop for anyone. Hours passed and the rain finally subsided before the sun came out to greet us. I frantically reached out to a few photographer friends, hoping we could catch this tiny bit of sunlight before it sets.

Lucky for me, Daniel Cohen was heading downtown and we were finally able to cross paths! We caught up with each other, sharing accomplishments big and small. He just had a groundbreaking gig in New York and I just came back from a cool event in Los Angeles. Seeing growth and success for a friend is such an inspiring feeling.

Although I had forces working against me, I powered through and it worked out for the best. I love how ethereal these shots turned out. I've said it once and I'll say it again: Push yourself, only good things will come from it.

Blushing All The Way Home

As tough as pink will ever be--a pink suede moto jacket! I may be feminine, but I can't say that I'm girly, and this is as girly as it gets. I couldn't resist this blush tone. Such a refreshing color. Whoever said pink was a spring color obviously lives by these "rules," whereas I do not. Wear it with neutrals such as white, grey or black.

Flower Bomb

When in doubt, it is best to keep things neutral. This goes for everyone, boys and girls. In case you've been living under a rock, neutral palettes have been the theme for several seasons now--and the minimalist in me is dancing in celebration.

Here is a pre-fall look I styled for Forever 21 (and a few more on the way)! Hate it or love it, but it is a common truth that Forever 21 capitalizes on impromptu, out-on-the-own ensembles.

Bomber jackets can do no wrong (wear them with dresses, skirts or everything), and sheer high-neck bodysuits deserve their own spotlight. Street luxe exudes an air of confidence that is both refined and badass--my favorite way to be. Shop my pre-fall selects in the links below:

Jacket: Scarlett Fever, Scarf: Free People, Boots: Superdry, Stockings: Urban Outfitters Purse: Rebecca Minkoff // Photos taken by: Dijon Bowden

This Indian summer is coming to a close in northern California. I can't believe we're finally experiencing darker, cooler nights. A stylish way to stay warm this season is the high thigh trend--we're talking OTK (over-the-knee) stockings and OTK boots. Stuart Weitzman makes the most amazing OTK boots, but until I can justify buying a pair, I'll make do with my black stockings and clunky combat boots from Superdry.

I threw on some denim shorts and a basic white tunic to downplay the sultry OTK look. I picked a mid-length jacket to complement the length of my tunic. This camo jacket is still one of my favorite pieces in the closet. I love it's length, shape and the edgy studded shoulders custom designed by Scarlett Fever, a sweetheart whose online boutique I found via Instagram. She has amazing taste if you want to take a look at her store here. I finished the look with this awesome fringed infinity scarf from Free People. I love how well red and green go together, but remember to consider mixing prints so that you don't look like a bright Christmas tree! My Rebecca Minkoff purse has been collecting dust in my closet for years now. Carrying her around again feels warm and familiar like rekindling an old flame. It's funny how great pieces evoke emotions similar to romantic love--that can't be just me, right?

Writer and photographer Dijon Bowden met for the first time when we walked and talked as we scouted locations to shoot. We strolled along the streets of San Francisco and I love how he captured me in these photos as we discussed a colorful range of topics including photography, the human body and what inspires our creativity. All of these photos are unedited, and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out! Happiness can be your best accessory. #nofilter

I hope this post inspires you to try something new, or spark a conversation with a stranger--you never know what's out there until you explore. Thanks for reading, friends! Have a wonderful week!
