Desert Rose

I love how bomber jackets have become a staple for everyday looks. If you want to elevate your look, add textures. Textures offer dimension, bringing an outfit from drab to fab! In this case, I'm all about the satin bomber. Such a chic rendition of an 80's starter jacket. I like my bomber jacket's oversized (I usually wear a size small but this is a size large). And to juxtapose an oversized jacket, I paired it with a form-fitting wrap top and fitted jeans. Try a satin bomber with a fitted dress or a flowy maxi skirt and sneakers.

Caramel-Coated Class

Here lies a game of tones. The monochrome trend is alive and well, so let's play with neutrals, shall we? While styling a look for Forever 21, I unearthed this caramel coat from the depths of my walk-in closet, because Lord knows I've been underdressed throughout this slightly unforgiving San Francisco winter. Not only is this a game of tones, but also a game of lengths. A long coat speaks class, and to complement it, I added a high-low skirt, then thigh high boots to fill the negative space. Since the skirt is high-waisted, I paired it with a crop sweater from Forever 21. See what I did there? I'm pretty clothed, but by playing with lengths, the entire ensemble is captivating, in my humble opinion.

I had so much fun during this shoot! A photographer I met a few months ago in LA happened to be in town, and so we explored my neck of the woods. I love how supportive and open people are in this industry and how linking up with a stranger and shooting with aligned visions is NBD.

Hallie

Cozy knit sweater-things are slowly invading my closet, all thanks to the UK's very own MissPap. It's hard to remember what winters were like in South Bay after experiencing the cold of the North. (Okay, so maybe I've been binge watching Game of Thrones). One thing is for sure, I will never compromise my style even in freezing temperatures.

So how about this sweater from Miss Pap? Business up top, party on the bottom. Layered with my favorite oversized denim jacket that I scored at a flea market in Oakland. I considered pairing this look with black thigh high boots, but the sweater alone is provocative enough to nix the boots. So, I opted for a softer look and went with black mules, instead. Mules are a godsend for girls who feel inadequate if not dressed in high heels.

What's everyone doing for the holidays this year? I feel blessed to have a few fun events lined up, including the holiday party I'm planning for work, along with my Ugly Christmas Sweater Party with the roomies, and of course a warm gathering with the fam. Santa Con seems to be a thing here in San Francisco, and I think I would make a fine looking Old Saint Nick.

Whatever it is you end up doing, I hope it is filled with love and joy. Thanks so much for dropping in!

A Fine Affair

SAM_1725.jpg

Unbox the high heels you've been meaning to wear, and reach for the fine wine in your kitchen. Tis the season to indulge in the luxuries of love and life.

With the holidays comes holiday parties and surely we want to look our best. And when it comes to fancy dresses, I have specific criteria: neutral colors, clean lines, an alluring neckline/backline, and a dash of elegance.

Long sleeves or a longer hem will counteract a plunging neckline/backline. Instead of going heavy on accessories, I like to play with a different hairstyle and maybe a bold lip. I'll entertain a pair of sparkly studs, or maybe even a delicate necklace, and I love me some midi rings. Something light, as to not take away from the attention of the dress.

So go on with your fancy self, and ring in the holiday cheer!
