Hell's Bells

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another post on victorialamode! Here I am, dark as ever, since this was taken shortly after returning from the desert that is Coachella. I bought these bell bottoms from Citizens of Humanity years and years ago, but I never wore them because I didn't have the confidence back then to avert unwanted comments (aw!) . Now that bells are back in style, I am one happy camper! But I'm even happier that I have the self-esteem to wear what I want, when I want! I find when I make bold style choices, people feel entitled to share their opinion. Positivity is always welcomed, but if you find yourself amongst a fellow hater, they can talk to the hand! :) Moral of the story: wear what makes YOU happy.

My blog has grown so much in the past six months, and I have you all to thank for that! I appreciate you guys trusting my fashion sense and being interested in what my dorky self has to say! Thanks so very much for stopping by. Have a fantastic week, lovelies!

Victoria La Mode x Groceries

Weekends are great, but I look forward to Mondays because that means a new blog post on victorialamode! Today's post is a special one because I'm collaborating with a company I believe is the future in clothing manufacturing. I'm channeling Old Hollywood vibes in this flattering little black dress from a brand so fresh, they call themselves Groceries. The fabric is made from 100% recycled and organic ingredients, sourced locally just outside of Fresno, California. The materials are then transported on their merry way to Groceries's own factory located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.

So, what's the difference between conventional cotton and organic? Organic cotton farming is based on the respect for our environment and the people and creatures that live in it. Organic cotton comes from non-GMO (genetically modified organism) seeds, which is grown without the use of pesticides and fungicides.

Conventional cotton uses 16% of the world's insecticides - more than any other single crop - making cotton the world's 'dirtiest' crop. Essentially, the chemicals in the pesticides degrade the organic matter in the soil. Without organic matter, it is difficult for water to be absorbed in the soil. This contaminated water then makes its way to our lakes, rivers and fresh water sources, killing fish and other species in its path. Growing organic cotten requires more time and effort, but it certainly betters the environment in more ways than one.

Our world is a beautiful place, and it's refreshing to discover a stylish company that cares.

Sway

Currently on heavy rotation in my everyday wardrobe is this crew neck pullover. I paired it with a whimsical skater skirt and nude heels for a street wear flair. Though just the other day, I styled it with high-waisted denim, kicks and french braid pigtails. I get pretty excited over a piece that I'm able to dress up or dress down. I love its dolman sleeves, and the relaxed crop cut is good for when I'm trying to hide from the sun without making me feel too covered up. A weekend at Coachella left me tan af, so I like to wear long sleeves when I'm "off-duty" in order for my skin to lighten up lol. But if you have a sun-kissed tan, I'm not mad at ya. To top off this polished look, my Givenchy handbag came out to play. I've had it for a couple years, but I still crack a little smile when admiring its 1970's color block detailing.

Cold and gloomy weather can make this girl feel downright dreary, but winter days are slightly brighter in this stunning overcoat. Double-breasted lapels, padded shoulders and 100% cashmere—isn’t she just darling! With such an elegant structure, she can be worn over a night out with the girls, or over a pair of Levi’s and a white boyfriend tee while running errands during the day. For my outfit, I went with the classic black and white, with a pop of color on my handbag. Words can’t describe how much I adore this handbag. My philosophy: If I’m going to splurge on a purse, it should be anything but boring! Its shape is so modern yet classic. I love the playful color-blocking going on. Cream and orange pair beautifully, with contrasting black accents to make a statement. Looks so chic with super pointy white pumps! Enjoy your weekend, and thanks so much for reading!
