1960's Go-go Girl

Beauty is timeless. The 1960's was an innovative era for women's fashions. Things got bolder, quirkier. Shorts got shorter in addition to psychedelic prints and colorblock. The iconic mod 60's look originated in London is so feminine and flirty. All I'm missing is some chunky white framed sunglasses. Thanks to the good people at Forever 21 for hooking up your girl. How cool is it that this entire look is from Forever? Well, boots from Public Desire, but you can get them for Forever too!

I've been loving newsboy hats recently--the bigger the better. It's one accessory that instantly elevates an outfit from simple to chic. Mini wrap skorts (skirt shorts) were a big thing in the 60's and allowed girls to look playful yet modest. At last, girls could bend over and adjust their go-go boots with confidence.

I remember growing up with super strict Asian parents, and was not allowed to wear skirts BUT I COULD WEAR A SKORT. So I had many, many skorts. It felt like a happy medium, a transaction worked out with me and my parents at the tender age of seven lol. Because it was always about fashion. And now I miss my parents. Love you mom and dad!

UPDATE: OMG OMG YOUR GIRL WAS FEATURED ON Forever 21.COM!!! Extremely humbled and utterly grateful to be sponsored and featured by such an influential brand as Forever! There are so many girls out there doing what I'm doing, and it feels SO special to stand out from the rest. Thank you Alejandro Rios for lending me your gifted talents and kind soul. I am living my dream. THANK YOU to everyone reading this for following along on my journey, because good things are meant to be shared. This is just the beginning!

Drugstore Cowboy

And the award for "came out of nowhere" goes to the bodysuit! If you don't have a bodysuit, then you're a freaking loser! I'm just joking. But in all seriousness, bodysuits have been slowly but surely invading my closet slash life. They pair so well with mid/high waisted jeans or skirts, even denim shorts for a casual laid back look on a warm day! Steer clear of wearing them with low waisted bottoms in fear of an accentuated pooch.

I felt a little barren and to be honest, a little basic with just a halter bodysuit and maxi skirt, so I added the Indiana Jones fedora for some much needed pizazz! Now I feel like the Cowboy who busts through the swinging doors of a saloon and I'm about to whoop somebody's ass! Who's with me? (Yeah, clothes take me places for sure).

Indiana Jane

This fedora makes me feel like I'm Indiana Jones and I should be cracking the whip somewhere, escaping everyday villains! It was a gift from the historically lush Beringer Vineyards just outside of Napa--their chardonnay was my favorite! Made by Scala, the hat costs the same as one from Urban Outfitters, but the ones from Urban suck in comparison and quality. The shape and construction of Scala's hats are a perfect ten. I'm pretty sure it's a men's fedora--what's with me and shopping in the men's section lately?

I like donning this hat with outfits of neutral tones. Wear it with jeans and a T-shirt, or a dress/skirt for a hipster, rock-and-roll flair!

P.S. How gorgeous is this greenery?

How To Rock a Bohemian Look

Coat: Wilson's Leather, Pants: Forever 21, Turban Hat: Asos, Necklace: Xevana, Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell  |  Photos by Carl Mahoney

What I love about bohemian looks is how they embody the perfect blend of casual, cool and comfortable. Long maxi lengths provide a relaxed fit and is a key element of the laid-back boho style. Meanwhile, mix-and-matching earthy prints gives off an effortless vibe and keeps things funky and interesting. If this isn't your style, but you want to dabble with a bohemian look, start with balancing hippie pants or a maxi skirt with a crop top. Naysayers beware, you might get addicted to this comfy fit.

One way to mix-and-match is to stick to similar or complementary colors. Here, I'm mixing prints and textures and it works because I'm sticking to earthy tones.

How awesome is this funky suede coat? Carl's lady friend, Megan, was kind enough to let me borrow it. Statement pieces like this one are cool enough to instantly enhance a simple outfit. I'm in love with my turban beanie from Asos. I'm all about textures so I was drawn it's thick knit and it's large knot in front. Layering necklaces is also part of the boho look. This gorgeous necklace that I'm wearing by Xevana is composed of 5 smaller necklaces that can be worn all together or individually. They call it a "stacklace" and it's a pretty amazing concept in my book. These stacklaces are a little pricey, but their wearability and versatility pretty much offsets the price tag.

I just came back from yet another vacation in Los Angeles and I have to say a getaway is a great way to gain a better outlook on life. It's a great day to be alive and I hope you guys feel the same. Thanks for reading, friends, and I wish you guys a Happy Monday!
